As a dangerous heat wave moves through Vermont, at VNAs of Vermont we want to echo the many messages we are seeing reminding us all to check on our vulnerable family members, friends, and neighbors to ensure they’re keeping cool during these rising temperatures.
By delivering quality, compassionate care at home, the staff at Vermont’s home health and hospice agencies are able to check-in on the health and wellbeing of their patients during a visit, adding another entry to the list of the many benefits a robust home health and long-term care at home system has.
We are proud to live in a state where we look in on and take care of each other, including those Vermonters who may be homebound and need some extra support from their communities to remain independent in their homes as they age.
Over the next few days take the necessary steps to stay cool, and make sure those around you are doing the same. The Department of Health’s website has tips, lists of resources, and an interactive map of cooling sites in communities around the state.
